About this work

The sitting of the Council of Troubles, nicknamed the Blood Council, presided over by the Duke of Alba seated on a throne with a rod of justice in his hand, 1567. In an open courtyard, Alba sits on a throne behind a large table with his councilors. A man kneels before the council. To the rear right, a man is beheaded.
