About this work
Session of the Council of Troubles, nicknamed the Blood Council, presided over by the Duke of Alba seated on a throne with the rod of justice in his hand, 1567. In an open courtyard, Alba sits on a throne behind a large table at which his councillors are seated. A man kneels before the council. In the background on the right, a man is beheaded.
