About this work
When Odysseus awakens on an island strange to him and shrouded in mist, he meets Minerva. As she lifts the mist, Odysseus recognizes his homeland. He kisses the ground. Minerva gives him the appearance of a beggar so that he will not be recognized. On the left in the background, the disguised Odysseus visits the swineherd Eumaeus.
