About this work

Clothing: The three men wear short balloon-shaped breeches*, short cape* with passementerie*; front-opening small collar. The man in the middle wears a bonnet* with flat cap and narrow brim. Flat shoes* with slits.<BR />Ihle p. 18, no. 41:<BR />Odet, Cardinal of Châtillon (1517-1571), Gaspard, Admiral of France and father of Louise de Coligny (1519-1572) and Francois, General of the Infantry (1521-1569) are dressed in full Spanish attire. Over the doublet they probably wear a leather jerkin decorated with long slits, a military uniform. Over this they have the wide Spanish cape with sleeves. Smooth shirt collars and also a ruffled collar. Shoes with slit decoration.
