About this work
In the foreground, two men, one with a beam in his eye, the other with a splinter, depicting Matt. 7:3: "Why do you look at the splinter in your brother's or sister's eye, while you do not notice the beam in your own eye?" Behind them, two blind men fall into a pit, depicting Luke 6:39: "Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit?" Letters next to various elements of the scene correspond to the legend in the margin.
