About this work

Christ sits with his disciples around a table during the Last Supper. He has blessed the bread and wine and has his disciples eat and drink of them. He foretells that they will all fall away from him in the coming night. In the background, they are seen departing for the Garden of Gethsemane. Letters stand next to various elements of the scene corresponding to the legend in the margin.
