About this work

Allegorical representation of the world, with four pillars representing the four continents (Europe, America, Africa, and Asia). Figures and elements associated with the continents stand before the pillars. In the center is a pedestal with a globe on which a personification of the world stands. She holds a water jug and a torch in her hand and wears a city crown on her head. Above her head is the zodiac with constellations.
