Putti decorate the oval portrait of the artist Gerard de Lairesse, which stands on a draped pedestal with palm branches, laurel wreaths, and flowers. On the right in the background, a putto in a workshop is carving a bust. The portrait is pasted on and bears the text: Vivitur Ingenio.
