About this work

In the background, the mother of Saint Dominic has a vision of a young dog with a burning torch on its head, which sets the world on fire. In the cradle next to her bed, Saint Dominic is attacked by flies (symbol of the devil). In the foreground, Saint Dominic is being washed. The print has a Latin inscription and subtitle and is part of a print series for a book on the life of Saint Dominic.
