About this work
A Neptune fountain, probably the fountain erected in Florence in honor of the entry of Joanna of Austria in 1565. In the center of the fountain, Neptune rides on a shell drawn by four sea horses. Around him, water nymphs. In the foreground, two putti on swans. A woman walks towards the fountain to fetch water. To her right, a child. At the bottom of the margin, a four-line caption in Latin.
