About this work

The triumphal arch of Philip at the corner of the Huidevetterstraat and the Meir (rear). In the central depiction, the marriage between Philip the Handsome and Joanna of Castile in 1496. At the top, the personification of the Habsburg monarchy surrounded by the signs of the zodiac. Marked top left: page 33A. Plate no. 14 in a set of 43 plates illustrating the publication describing the entry of Cardinal-Infant Ferdinand of Austria into Antwerp on 17 April 1635 as the new Governor-General of the Spanish Netherlands.
