About this work

The shepherd Paris in the foreground. He must judge the three most beautiful goddesses of Olympus on their beauty: Juno (right, with the peacock), Minerva (left, with shield, helmet, and spear), and Venus (accompanied by Amor). He gives the golden apple to Venus. Mercury stands next to Paris. In the background, some river gods. In the air, two putti.
