About this work

Landscape in which allegorical figures and pictorial elements together form a rebus. Personifications of Hypocrisy and Tyranny hold the world upside down on the left, next to them the sleeping Love and Time with an open book. In the caption, the solution of the rebus in three verses of two lines each in Dutch, French, and German. Numbered bottom right and left: I / I.
