About this work
The capture of the city of Damietta by the Haarlem crusaders and the breaking of the chain that closed the harbor, 1219. The ships fly flags of Haarlem and Holland. From the towers of the harbor and from boats the ships are attacked with arrows and spears. With a caption of four verses of four lines each in Latin. Dedicated on a tablet in the lower left to the city council of Haarlem.
