About this work

On the threshing floor of the Jebusite Araunah, King David has built an altar. He kneels before the altar and offers cattle in the hope of stopping a plague ravaging the land. Above him flies the angel of death who caused the pestilence. In the background, a plain strewn with victims of the plague.
