About this work

The siege of Groningen by the bishops of Cologne and Münster during the months of July and August of the year 1672. The composition is taken from the print by Romeyn de Hooghe (FMH 2383). A new element is the presence of the bishops with their retinue, on the right in the foreground. Details in the depiction are indicated by numbers 1-18 which are explained in the legend in the upper right.
