The Arminian entrenchment at Leiden, 1618

Sheet with a depiction of the Arminian fort at Leiden. The fort was erected on 5 October 1617 in the Breestraat near the town hall to protect the Remonstrant city council and the waardgelders. The image shows the skirmishes taking place in the vicinity of the fort. In the plate, below the image, a French caption in four verses. Reprint of the print, now with the name of the publisher. A Dutch caption of three columns, with a description of the events until 20 October 1618 when the fort was dismantled and an explanation of the letters in the image, was printed on a separate piece of paper (see RP-P-OB-77.267a).
