About this work
Patience sitting on a raised platform with a lamb on her lap and a cross in her hand, she tramples under her feet despair. In front of her on the ground an attack by Violence and Envy (Invidia) on Love (Charitas), to the left and right the suffering and despairing inhabitants of the country. From heaven with God and Father Time, Faith (Fides) and Hope (Spes) hold the cord with the coats of arms of the 17 provinces of the Netherlands.
