About this work
Dirk VI, Count of Holland, begs Hartbert, Bishop of Utrecht for forgiveness. According to FM in the year 1143. In reality this took place in the year 1146. Dirk besieged the city of Utrecht. When the bishop threatened to excommunicate the count, Dirk repented and asked the bishop for forgiveness. The bishop grants the count, who kneels barefoot and bareheaded before him, forgiveness for his deeds.
