About this work

The bailiff leads the farmer's cow away after having exchanged it for an inferior specimen. In the background, the farmer and his family watch helplessly. Scene no. 2 in a series of six small scenes of the successive episodes of the story of the Judgment of Count William III in the year 1336. These small prints belong on both sides of the large central scene. Each scene has an inscription consisting of a motto and a verse of two columns of eight lines.
