About this work
Count William III, lying in bed, listens to the stories of the farmer, on the left, and the Bailiff of South Holland, standing on the right next to the Schout of Dordrecht. At the court of Valenciennes. Scene no. 5 in a series of six small scenes of the successive episodes of the story of the Judgment of Count William III in the year 1336. These small prints belong on both sides of the large central scene. Each scene has an inscription consisting of a motto and a verse of two columns of eight lines.
