About this work

Anti-Roman satirical print with a group of reformers seated around a table on which a burning candle stands. The candlestick rests on a book designated as the Gospel. The devil, the pope, a cardinal, and a monk try in vain to blow out the candle. The figures are designated by letters which are explained in the inscription, six columns of Dutch.
