About this work

Pageant wagon with the ship Victoria. On the ship female personifications of Hope, Faith, and Love, flags of the provinces of the Netherlands, banners with Christian allegories. In front of the ship two seahorses, behind them two sea elephants. At the rear the two pillars of Hercules. The sides of the ship decorated with depictions of Charles V's victories. Part of the print series on the funeral procession of Emperor Charles V on 29 December 1558 in Brussels. Print consists of two parts pasted together.
