About this work

Pageant wagon with the ship Victoria. On the ship female personifications of Hope, Faith and Love, flags of the provinces of the Netherlands, banners with Christian allegories. In front of the ship two sea-horses, behind them two sea-elephants. At the rear the two pillars of Hercules. The sides of the ship decorated with scenes of Charles V's victories. Part of the print series of the Funeral Procession of Emperor Charles V on 29 December 1558 in Brussels. The print consists of two parts glued together.
