About this work

Pilate, standing on the balcony of his palace, shows Christ to the people. Christ, with loincloth, cloak and crown of thorns, holds a reed stalk. The people under the balcony call for his crucifixion, some have raised their arm. On the left stands a man holding the cross up. In the margin a two-line inscription in Latin.
