Allegory on the hereditary stadtholdership offered to the Prince of Orange, 1674

Allegory on the abolition of the Eternal Edict of 1667 with the offering of the hereditary stadtholdership to the Prince of Orange, 2 February 1674. A crumbling monument in which Anticurius van Loevestein (the personification of the Loevestein faction) lies on his deathbed, surrounded by allegorical figures, including the Act of Seclusion. At the top a bust of Van Oldenbarnevelt next to an inscription and on either side the bodies of the De Witt brothers. On the right a medallion with the portrait of William III, held by Courage and Prudence. Below the scene a text in three columns with an explanation of the numbers 1-18 in Dutch.
