About this work

The Sleeping Peasant of Stolwijk, or the so-called Sleeping Stolk Peasant. Dirk Klaasz de Bakker slept from June 29, 1706, to January 11, 1707 (27 weeks) and, after being woken, fell asleep again until March 15, 1707. Centrally the bed with the sleeping man with several visitors. This scene surrounded by eight smaller scenes with city views and emblems. Printed on the sheet below the print a verse in 3 columns.
