Catholics Surrender to Greed and Lust

Satirical print on the fall of James II and his Catholic supporters, including Father Peters (Edward Petre; personification of the dissolute monk). Interior where Catholics indulge in gluttony and lust. A feast where monks, a priest, a hermit, and other Catholic clergy indulge in excessive eating and drinking in the company of naked and scantily clad women. Also present is Father Peters, who has his foot on the Bible. On the walls, depictions of the fox preaching and hearing confessions. To the right, by the bed with the sleeping and naked woman, devils stoke the fire under the world, and Greed counts the earned money. To the left, Envy gnaws at a heart. A personification of Wrath holds the door shut for curious (Protestant) visitors. The women symbolize the seven deadly sins.
