About this work

Allegory on the steadfastness of Pieter Adriaansz. van der Werff, mayor of Leiden during the siege in 1574. In the middle a portrait in an oval, on both sides pyramids with emblems and mottos. At the top the coat of arms of William of Orange and the all-seeing eye. Below two putti and a small allegorical representation of the siege of Leiden. Top right signed with the number 2.
