About this work

Fight with the polar bear, 11 and 12 June 1596. The crew in two boats kills a polar bear. In the background the ships off Bear Island and in the sky the celestial phenomenon. Copies of the original illustrations in the travel report of the voyage of Willem Barendsz and Jacob van Heemskerck in 1596-1597 and the stay on the island of Nova Zembla, No. 8.
