Allegorical portrait of Maurice after the victory at the Battle of Nieuwpoort, 2 July 1600. Centrally, an oval portrait of Maurice with a Latin border inscription. Around it, an architectural frame on which various allegorical figures depict the victory of the Republic over Spain. Bottom left: True Faith tramples a monk, above it a personification of Strength and Temperance defeats Spanish field marshals, in the middle the victorious Dutch Maiden, right the struggle for the freedom of the fatherland, bottom right, Justice tramples Spanish tyranny (in the person of the Duke of Alba) which tears the coat of arms of the 17 provinces in half. Under the portrait, the Dutch lion attacks a dragon. In the background, the Battle of Nieuwpoort (in mirror image). In small scenes, earlier military successes of Maurice are depicted. In the inscription, 7 verses of 6 lines each in Latin. At the bottom of the print, a separately printed verse of 5 columns in German is pasted on.
