About this work

In Schoonhoven, shops of counter-remonstrants who go to church outside the city are attacked by boys and pelted with dirt. In the background, counter-remonstrants leave the city through the gate; in the foreground, an open fabric shop with an awning is being pelted with street refuse by youths. This scene was (incorrectly) interpreted by Muller as the arrest of the Remonstrant preacher D. Sapma and the riot in Hoorn, March 10, 1619.
