Allegory of the Conquest of Breda by the States Army under Frederick Henry, 23 July – 10 October 1637. At the top a narrow profile of the city. Below, in three arches: on the left Frederick Henry in a triumphal chariot drawn by lions receives the keys of the city from the city maid of Breda. In the center the stadtholder enthroned on a podium with at his feet the personifications of Liberty, Strength, Temperance, Love, Hope, Faith and Justice. On the right Frederick Henry in armor tramples another knight representing Breda, accompanied by chained capital sins.
