About this work

Allegory on the Peace of Aachen concluded on 18 October 1748 between the Allies (Republic, England, and Austria) on one side and France, Prussia, and Spain on the other. On the left, the French maiden is welcomed and embraced by the maidens of the other kingdoms. In the center, Mercury above a group of allegorical female figures. On the right in the background, Mars as the warlike France. The image is accompanied by a text sheet with explanation.
