About this work

Allegory on the Peace of Rijswijk concluded on 20 September 1697 between France and the allies. On the left the French maiden is welcomed back and embraced between the maidens of the other kingdoms. In the middle Mercury above a group of allegorical female figures. On the right in the background the warlike Turk with torch and sword.
