About this work

Battle of the Downs between the Spanish fleet under the command of Antonio de Oquendo and the States fleet under Maarten Harpertsz. Tromp, 21 October 1639. Left plate with in the foreground, seen in mirror image, the admiral's ship of Tromp the Aemilia next to the Santa Teresa which is on fire. In the background the English coast between Romney and Dover. At the top in the center a cartouche with the title (divided), top left marked: Twede Deel Fol. 64.
