About this work
Battle of the Downs between the Spanish fleet under the command of Antonio de Oquendo and the States fleet under Maarten Harpertsz. Tromp, 21 October 1639. Right plate with in the foreground a burning ship and boats with crew members, on the right the captured Spanish ships. In the background the English coast between Walmer and Margate. At the top in the center a cartouche with the title (divided).
