About this work

Large representation of the Battle of the Downs between the Spanish fleet under the command of Antonio de Oquendo and the States fleet under Maarten Harpertsz. Tromp, 21 October 1639. Sheet 4: sea battles, centrally the destruction of the Santa Teresa, in the foreground drowning people are being pulled from the water near the sinking St. Francisco. In the background the English coast at Sandwich. Unmounted ensemble consisting of 7 numbered plates, the black strips with the title and text sheet with the description.
