A kneeling and imploring Spaniard is stripped by the Frenchman of his cloak (Thionville in 1643 and Perpignan in 1642), of his hat (Portugal in 1641) by the Portuguese, of his doublet (Breda in 1637) by the Dutchman, and of his trousers (uprising in Catalonia in 1641) by the Catalan.
