About this work

Illustration of the events known as the cruelty of the bull, 1647. The farmer and his pregnant wife who were attacked by a bull on August 29, 1647, in Zaandam. The woman is taken onto the horns by the bull, with the child being thrown from her womb. Above the image a four-line verse. In a decorative border of flowers. Numbered top right: 45.
