About this work

Three-Day Naval Battle off the English south coast in the First Anglo-Dutch War between the States Navy under Maarten Tromp and the English Navy under Robert Blake, 28 February – 2 March 1653. Centrally the fight between a Dutch and an English ship, in the background the English coast with Portland. At the top in laurel wreaths portraits of Admiral Penn, Blake and Tromp. At the bottom a small map of the fleets off the English coast. Details in the representation marked with letters but a legend is missing.
