About this work
Oliver Cromwell dissolves Parliament after his appointment as Lord Protector on 16 December 1653. Left Cromwell with some supporters (General Lambert and Anthony Ashley Cooper), right the departing members of Parliament, preceded by an owl with spectacles and a candlestick. Inscriptions in English and Dutch in the representation. Pasted below the representation is a text in two columns in Dutch.
