About this work

Sheet with two designs for experimental ships from the mid-seventeenth century. At the top three views of a design for a sailing ship by Hendrik Stevin. At the bottom the mad or wonderful ship of Rotterdam, designed by Jean Duson (here mentioned as 'de Heer van Son'), 1653. Tightly planked rhomboid wooden ship with in the middle a paddle wheel or screw (covered by a leaf attached over it). Marked top right: Pag. 13.
