About this work

Two depictions of an interior with a person suffering from a form of epilepsy or madness, interpreted as possession or witchcraft, in which attempts are made to drive out the spirit through torture. Top: a blindfolded man receives a clamp on his leg. Bottom: a blindfolded man tied to a chair with a fire lit underneath. Numbered: 12 and 13.
