About this work

The self-sacrifice of minister Hambroeck on Formosa. After personally conveying the request for surrender from the Chinese to the Dutch commanders of Fort Zeelandia on Formosa, Hambroeck says farewell to his daughters and returns to the Chinese pirate Coxinga, 24 May 1661. In October 1661 he is murdered by the Chinese.
