The Battle of Solebay on 7 June 1672 between the States fleet under Michiel Adriaenszoon de Ruyter and the Anglo-French fleet under the Duke of York and Vice-Admiral Jean II d'Estrees. Below the image is a sheet pasted with a description of the events in three columns. At the end of the text is an explanation of the image in which the individual ships are identified. The print is printed from a plate originally made in 1666 for a depiction of the Four Days' Battle between the Dutch and the English on 11-14 June 1666 (FMH 2234). The plate has not changed much, only the three portraits that were above the ships have now been removed.
