About this work
The Dutch Lion is caught in a net by the French rooster and the German boar. Hanging from a tree are a wolf and a fox disguised in sheep's clothing (Johan and Cornelis de Witt). Two storks in the sky. With an inscription of 2 verses of 4 lines. Print no. 1 in a series of six allegories on the war with France and the German bishops in the years 1672-1674, based on the oration by Professor L. Wolfogen on his dream and its explanation given at the University of Amsterdam on January 11, 1674.
