About this work
Mechelen moon fire. Caricature on the inhabitants of Mechelen who mistakenly believe that the tower of St. Rumbold is on fire, 27 January 1687. It turns out to be only the light of the full moon among mists. Night scene with the crowd that has gathered armed with ladders and firefighting equipment on the church square. With an inscription of 5 lines ending with the words: Heere vergeeft hunne Onooselheydt.
