About this work
Reproduction of a French caricature on the alleged death of William III during the Battle of the Boyne on 11 July 1690. Funeral procession carrying the body of the dead William III on a stretcher, led by George Savile, 1st Marquess of Halifax, with a torch, followed by the bearers: Bishop Gilbert Burnet, Charles Talbot, 12th Earl of Shrewsbury, Everhard van Weede van Dijkvelt, and the Earl of Portland. Behind the bier the Princess of Orange, a Dutchman, an Englishman, a Scot, and an Irishman. To the left rear, a gallows. On the sheet below the image, texts in two columns in Dutch and French.
