About this work

A cameo depicting the triumph of Germanicus and Agrippina (or the triumph of Constantine). A Roman general with his wife in a triumphal chariot drawn by two centaurs. The cameo is here depicted in an ornamental border with pearls. The cameo was auctioned at the Amsterdam Mint on September 11, 1765, and purchased for 5500 guilders by the alderman Hop.
